If you’re not deemed beautiful or desirable, you’re pushed to the margins. Beauty standards can be seen as a mechanism of power, an ideology that reinforces privilege. The idea that certain bodies are more legitimate because they fit a narrow ideal isn’t just a matter of aesthetics; it’s tied to who gets access to healthcare, economic opportunities, and social mobility. Societal power structures, determine who is seen as valuable, or more accurately, who is worthy of life.
